MEET SEEMA SUTARWALA TURNER, PRINCIPAL MANAGER – ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT (ESD)
Seema Sutarwala Turner is a Principal Manager in the Environmental Services Department (ESD) at Southern California Edison, one of the nation’s largest electrical utilities. SCE strives to be a steward of the environment by seeking opportunities to minimize or eliminate environmental impacts. She is responsible for the Environmental Resources Management (ERM) division, which develops and implements environmental compliance and risk management strategies. Her team of talented senior managers, program managers and subject matter experts is responsible for ensuring compliance in the fields of archaeology, biology, compensatory mitigation, restoration, wetlands and water quality. Her team also manages habitat creation and restoration projects to offset impacts from construction activities and other operations.
One of the most meaningful aspects of working at SCE is the continued focus on having a diverse and inclusive workplace. Seema reports to a male ally for gender equality who supports her work, amplifies D&I messaging and nurtures a growth mindset. Seema practices curiosity, engages staff and values feedback which drive towards greater inclusion. She serves on the Board of Lighthouse, SCE’s LGBTQ+ & Ally business resource group, which supports inclusion and acceptance of LGBTQ+ employees. As an ally ambassador, Seema leads allyship programming efforts and presents training to introduce and promote allyship across the company.
She received a M.S. in Geology from Vanderbilt University and a B.S. in Geology from the College of William and Mary. Seema enjoys traveling with her family, cooking and reading. When she is not sitting under her fruit trees, her preferred self-care routine includes meditating, journaling and practicing yoga.
