MEET JENNY MCGEE, SCIENTIFIC ADVISOR – MITIGATION AND RESTORATION
Jenny McGee is a Scientific Advisor for the Mitigation and Restoration Section in SCE’s Environmental Services Department. In this role, she is a Project Manager responsible for leading the company’s most prominent habitat recovery projects. She manages the final construction phase of the largest kelp reef in North America consisting of 200 additional acres of artificial reef constructed as part of an environmental project near the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. She oversees the recovery of expansive terrestrial habitats, including woodlands in the Angeles National Forest and riparian forests and native scrub habitat throughout the service territory. Because of the hazardous environmental conditions of this work, she leads a rigorous contractor safety program on her projects to avoid serious injuries and/or fatalities.
Jenny recently celebrated six years with the company after four years as an in-house consultant to SCE. She is a member of the Environmental Services Safety Team and the Women’s Roundtable Employee Resource Group. Jenny is also a member of the California chapter of the Society of Ecological Restoration where she recently presented on successful post-fire restoration practices in the Angeles National Forest.
Jenny is a recipient of the Operational Service Excellence Award, in recognition for her work developing the restoration program for the Tehachapi Renewable Transmission Project. Jenny received her Bachelor of Arts degree from UC Santa Cruz in Environmental Sciences where she focused on National Environmental Policy and Botany, and she holds a Certification of Strategic Leadership from the Bren School of Management at UC San Diego. Her professional background includes 15 years’ experience working throughout California and Nevada for federal and state agencies as well as private environmental consulting. Outside of SCE, Jenny is a proud mother of two, and spends her time giving back as a teacher in the children’s ministry program at her community church in Brea, California.
