MEET ZINING YANG, SENIOR MANAGER ENERGY CONTRACT MANAGEMENT
Zining Yang is a Senior Manager, Energy Contract Management. She is responsible for leading a team that delivers reliable settlement solutions through advocacy, providing contract expertise, creating efficient processes, developing resourceful tools and ensuring proper systems are in place for business readiness.
Previously, she has served as the Strategic Advisor in Trading and Market Operations division in Energy Procurement and Management at Southern California Edison (SCE), one of the nation’s largest electric utilities. She is responsible for providing strategic guidance and high-level oversight on multiple projects within the organization, including analyzing, designing and implementing bidding strategies and driving analyses of SCE’s load, generation, and hedging activities to ensure low costs to customers. She is also part of the Transportation Electrification Strategy Refresh core team and the Membership Director of SCE’s second-largest BRG Women’s Roundtable.
In addition, she was instrumental as a Data Science Advisor at the Portfolio Planning and Analysis division, where she led analytics efforts and worked closely with all departments to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions.
Prior to that, Zining was Director of Research and Operations at a boutique management consulting firm. Her expertise in policy design portfolio analysis, risk assessment, dispute settlements, and multi-party negotiation has benefited the federal government think tanks, law firms, commercial and foreign clients.
How has SCE helped support you through your career?
Outside SCE, Zining is dedicated to giving back to society with her unique skills. She teaches and mentors students at two universities, and sit’s on the Board of Computational Social Science Society of the Americas (VASSAL She has won multiple International awards in computational modeling and published numerously with Springer Advances in Complex Adaptive Systems Modeling, Springer Advances in Intelligent Systems Computing Institute for Scientific Information, and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). She was invited to discuss her work that predicts countries’ economic and demographic development top research Institutes across the world, offering policy recommendations. Her presentation at the European Solidarity Center and co-authored book with the Korean Institute for International Economic Policy shed light on Intertwined development paths of political stability and economic prosperity.
Zining has a Bachelor of Law Degree from Beijing International Studies University, a Master’s Degree in International Studies, and a PhD. Degree in Applied Mathematics and Political Economy from Claremont Graduate University.
